Metal band saws are high-precision machine tools used in metalworking. Correct operation and regular maintenance are essential for maintaining cutting accuracy, extending the service life of the equipment and ensuring production reliability. Below are practical winter maintenance recommendations for SENMO band saws.
Hydraulic oil is a vital medium for the operation of band saws, but its performance can deteriorate significantly in cold winter conditions. At low temperatures, hydraulic oil may thicken or even solidify, leading to machine failure. It is recommended that the band saw be housed in a well-insulated workshop. Replace the hydraulic oil in the reservoir with Grade 32 low-temperature anti-wear hydraulic oil. This oil offers excellent viscosity-temperature characteristics and good low-temperature adaptability, ensuring reliable cold-start capability and smooth pumping performance for the hydraulic system in cold environments. This oil is also compatible with most standard sealing materials, helping to maintain a tight seal within the system and eliminate the risk of oil leaks.
The gear oil in the worm gearbox should be changed regularly. Maintain the appropriate fluidity of the gear oil; oil that is too viscous will increase operating resistance and accelerate wear on the transmission components.
Special anti-freeze measures must also be taken for cutting fluids. Adding antifreeze to the cutting fluid provides effective protection against freezing. In extremely cold weather, all cutting fluid should be drained at the end of each production day and refilled before the start of the next shift. This prevents any residual cutting fluid from freezing inside the pipes and machine tool components.
